The second round of Training on Gender Equality and Faith, conducted by Revd Tarabe and Mrs. Tarabe from the 18th – 20th October 2022. This workshop was funded through the Federal Republic of Germany in Wellington – Small Scale Projects. The workshop is called the “Preventing Violence against women and girls in Fiji: Gender Equality and Faith” and held at the Elelohi Methodist Church in Lautoka. A total of 28 engaged participants (26 women and 2 men) were enlightened by this workshop. The third day ended with the group supporting Thursdays in Black by wearing black to support the cause. More workshops like this are bring requested by the participants to be conducted in the village in order to change and train the mindsets of others on the issue of Gender based violence. Implementation of these strategies in faith settings is crucial if we are to see lasting social norms change of VAWG in Fiji, in the Pacific and around the world.
