Vacancy for Sarah Safe Home Centre Manager

The House of Sarah (HoS) is a faith-based organization registered under the Charitable Trusts Act (Cap 67). The HoS takes an evidence-based approach to addressing violence against women and girls in four key areas : referral & Dauveivukei counselling support, awareness raising and advocacy, gender and theology, and primary prevention.

Sarah’s Safe Home, an emergency shelter, will be opened in 2025 to provide safe accommodation to women and girls survivors of gender-based violence.

Position Summary:

House of Sarah is seeking a full-time Centre Manager responsible for overall management and administration of Sarah Safe Home including its personnel, communication, budgetary supervision, Board support, community education, development of collaborative partnerships, programme design, implementation & evaluation. In collaboration with the Board, the Centre Manager will implement its strategic plan.

Key responsibilities
Principal responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Leadership – Programme & Service Delivery

• Provide oversight of the 24/7 operations of the Sarah Safe Home, ensuring all services provided are survivor-centered, trauma-informed, respectful, compassionate and in accordance with the GBV principles and approaches and the Fiji National Shelter Guidelines on Responding to cases of gender-based violence.
• Manage all aspects of the shelter services, including volunteers, marketing/communications, finance, development, and partnerships

Human Resource management
• Oversight staff recruitment and orientation for programme staff in accordance with the House of Sarah’s policies and protocols.  
• Supervision, coaching, performance reviews for programme staff.

Management Responsibilities  
• Comply and implement established House of Sarah’s  policies and procedures.  
• Ensure quality assurance for all Sarah Safe Home programmes.
• Work a flexible roster including occasional evening/night and weekend work.
• May be required to travel for short periods locally and abroad.

Required Qualifications & Experience
• Academic Qualification – Must have tertiary level education in social work or human services or a combination of education and experience in applicable field.
• Work experience – at least 3 years’ experience in community work and/or working in the area of gender-based violence. Some counselling experience would be an asset.
• Collaborative nature – ability to work well with a team and with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
• Excellent written communication skills.
• Strong technology skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite

Other requirements
• Based in Suva, Nasinu, Nausori, Lami areas.
• The successful candidate must have the ability to travel outside of Suva/ Nasinu as and when required
